Fine dining and murder go hand in hand in New York Times bestselling author Linda Fairstein’s breathtaking new suspense novel inspired by recent real-life events
Forty-eight hours after Alexandra Cooper arrives in France to visit her boyfriend and famed restaurateur, Luc Rouget, her vacation in paradise is cut short when a young woman from the village is found murdered. The only evidence discovered on the body is one of Luc’s matchboxes promoting his new restaurant in Manhattan. But before the investigation begins, Alex is summoned back to New York to handle a high profile case.
Mohammed Gil-Darsin, the distinguished and wealthy Head of the World Economic Bureau, has been arrested and accused of attacking a maid in his hotel. As the world watches in fascination to see how the scandal will unfold, Alex finds her attention torn between preparing the alleged victim to testify and a murder case with ties too close to home.
When a second body is found with Luc’s matchbox—this time in Brooklyn—Alex begins to fear that the two cases may not be as unrelated as she thought, and that uncovering the sordid secrets of the city’s most wealthy and powerful could cost her and her loved ones everything they hold dear.

TLC Book ToursMy Review:

I’m a very eclectic reader (in case you didn’t guess it!), but one of my favorites is always a good suspense novel. I love one that’s filled with pages upon pages of twists and turns, characters that will squeeze your heart and fantastic author skills. Linda Fairstein has created a novel that has all that and more! Ms.Fairstein takes crime and suspense in an intense way, so the who-dun-its, the whys and why nots are all blended in a way to always keep the reading guessing.

Alexandra “Alex” Cooper is an assisant DA from New York. She heads out to France to see her boyfriend Luc. But, once there, things aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Certainly not a cozy, cuddly time, that’s for share. Forty-eight hours after her arrival, things take a sour toll when a body is found in the village. The worst part? It’s one of Luc’s employees. Even worse than that, evidence at the scene points all fingers to Alex’s boyfriend. Definitely not the way Alex planned to spend her vacation with her boyfriend!

Alex is called back to New York on a rape investigation, but another body is found. And it bears eerie resemblance to the murder in France. Especially when more evidence is found linking Luc….again!

Things aren’t adding up and it’s up to Alex to find out the truth….and fast. Before someone else turns up dead, or hurt. Can she piece the puzzle together before it’s too late?

Definitely a 4 Book worthy, highly recommended suspense novel! This is my first Alex Cooper (it’s number 14 in the series though), and while I will be make it a priority to read the others, I have to say that this one isn’t overly confusing and it’s definitely addictive! Fantastic job, Ms. Fairstein! Can’t wait to see more of Alex Cooper :).

Great review! I haven’t read any of the books in this series but I’m definitely adding them to my list now. I love a strong female protagonist who solves mysteries and this will give me my fix:)

I have heard of this author before but never read her. A strong female protagonist sounds great, though. When I want something different I will have to keep her in mind!
