Twenty years ago, a barmaid in a harbor town fell for a young sailor who turned pirate to make his fortune. But what truly became of Black Edward Tew remains a mystery—one that has just fallen into the lap of wise-cracking, freelance sword jockey Eddie Lacrosse.

For years, Eddie has kept his office above Angelina’s tavern, so when Angelina asks him to find out what happened to the dashing pirate who stole her heart, he can hardly say no—even though the trail is two decades old. Some say Black Edward and his ship, The Bloody Angel, went to the bottom of the sea, taking with it a king’s fortune in treasure. Others say he rules a wealthy, secret pirate kingdom. And a few believe he still sails under a ghostly flag with a crew of the damned.

To find the truth and earn his gold, Eddie must take to sea in the company of a former pirate queen in search of the infamous Black Edward Tew and solve the mystery of the ghost ships.

Bledsoe’s readership continues to grow with each standalone installment in this fantastic series. Fans of mystery and fantasy alike won’t want to miss WAKE OF THE BLOODY ANGEL.

My Review:
I’ve never had the pleasure of reading an Alex Bledsoe novel until now, and I must say that I have been missing out on some major awesomeness! Alex Bledsoe’s Wake Of The Bloody Angel hooked me instantly. It kept me on a tilt-a-whirl of ups and downs, and I was so engrossed in the story that I was in complete shock when I finally reached the end…I wasn’t ready to close the book! I wanted to keep on in Eddie LaCrosse’s story and adventures. I don’t read many novels like this because not many can grip me so thoroughly. But, when I get ones like this, I am quite the happy camper!

Eddie LaCrosse is one awesome character! Hired by a tavern woman, Eddie sets out on the search for a man who has been missing (or dead!) for twenty years. He embarks on the journey with ex-pirate woman Jane, a woman who seeks out pirates. These unique detectives are definitely forces to be reckoned with! Do not cross their swords, that’s for sure! I loved watching Eddie (gotta love him…totally want more of him!) as his sea-bound adventures brought him face to face with things he didn’t bargain for!

As Eddie and Jane get closer to finding the missing pirate and his treasure, secrets are unraveled, and adventures explode. I truly felt a part of this story entirely, from the swashbuckling pirates to the sword wielding detectives. Each bit of sea-bound mystery become a part of me,creating a story that was more like watching an epic movie. I totally loved that feeling!

I am now a total Eddie LaCrosse fan for life. I have already gone and added the first three books in Eddie’s series to my wish list and can’t wait to read them! The epic adventure and the pirates are amazing, and if the first three are anything like this 5 Book worthy stand alone,I know I’m in for a humongous treat from Mr. Bledsoe! I am looking forward to more of Mr. Bledsoe’s work, especially with the hopes that LaCrosse will be back in more high seas, often laughable, definitely quirky adventures!

  1. Maria D.

I don’t think I have a favorite “pirate” book but I do love the genre i general. I think because I grew up watching the older Hollywood swashbucklers on TV – one of my favorite movies is actually a musical involving pirates – The Pirate with Judy Garland and Gene Kelly – it really brings the pirate and adventures to life. I also love Reap the Wild Wind with Ray Milland, Treasure Island, and The Crimson Pilate. Thanks for the review and the giveaway!

  2. Major awesomeness is right! I’ve only read one of Bledsoe’s books (the first in his Tufa series) but it was incredibly original and really good. I’m glad to know his other books are just as intriguing!

Thanks for being on the tour.
