Book Review: Love At Any Cost by Julie Lessman (Re-Read)

Book Review: Love At Any Cost by Julie Lessman (Re-Read)

My Thoughts *Note: This review is from my original posting in March of 2014, which can be found here. My thoughts are still the same, my emotions are still the same as the first time I read it!* Sweet Saints above, Ms. Lessman has done it again!!! Next to Karen Kingsbury, she is absolutely positively my absolute favorite Christian Fiction author. I love her work! Her characters (my favorite is Katie from A Hope Undaunted!) steal you away to their time and place and sweep you into their mix for a time. I laugh, I cry, I smile through all her books and her characters……well, they are chiseled absolutely perfectly for their stories! Oh my! Cassidy was absolute a breath of fresh air! I loved the phrases she used through out the story. Ms. Lessman used phrases my granddaddy used to use before he passed away years ago, it brought back so many memories for me! And her heart, bless her, she just wanted to let go of her broken engagement from a gold digger and move on with becoming a teacher in a new place. I laughed at her and wanted to wrap her up and squeeze her tight!… Read more »

Book Review: The Promise Of A Letter by Kathleen Fuller

Book Review: The Promise Of A Letter by Kathleen Fuller

My Thoughts After reading Written In Love, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book 2. I finally did and let me tell you what. I absolutely adored it! Book 2 is wonderfully written and instantly captivating, just like book 1. Ms. Fuller once again takes us to Birch Creek where her readers get to fall in love all over again with past, and new characters.  Roman and Leanna’s characters really gripped me! I loved them both for different reasons. Roman’s character really pulled at my heart, perhaps because I always felt like I couldn’t please anyone know matter what I did. Watching him and seeing how he reacts to the letter from his grandmother, really tugged at my soul. I loved him! And sweet Leanna. Bless her. She’s so different from your typical Amish women and I loved that about her! Ms. Fuller truly did a good thing with her character. Seeing Roman and Leanna together, following them through this story, was a wonderful time.  This book is so full of messages of God’s understanding and forgiving grace. I loved that. I felt His presence while taking this journey with Leanna and Roman and I couldn’t wait to… Read more »

Book Review: The Blessing by Wanda Brunstetter

Book Review: The Blessing by Wanda Brunstetter

My Thoughts How to write a review without giving spoilers, when there is so much I want to say!? I will say that, if you don’t know by now, Wanda Brunstetter is one of my absolute favorite Amish novelists. She never fails to hook me with her books and keep me entertained the entire way through. And, The Blessing, book 2 in her Amish Cooking Class series is no exception! I was hooked from the beginning and held captive til the very end. True talent!  The Blessing picks up where book 1, The Seekers, left off. Heidi and Lyle Troyer are adopting a baby but a sad circumstance leaves Heidi heartbroken and once again teaching a class to occupy her mind. She, once again, opens her home to strangers and the fun begins! Each new character brings something special to the story and I loved watching Heidi interact with them. The messages thrown into the story and watching the characters realize what those messages were, was truly refreshing!  This book is deserving of so much more than 5 stars! Mrs. Brunstetter has created another wonderful novel that every Amish fiction fan (and those that are new to the genre!) will… Read more »

Review: Eygpt’s Sister by Angela Hunt

Review: Eygpt’s Sister by Angela Hunt

My Thoughts First, I just have to say how gorgeous this cover is! If I hadn’t been intrigued by the synopsis, I would have grabbed it up for the cover alone. Second, if you are not already a fan of Angela Hunt, then you will be after reading this amazingly chiseled novel. She is absolutely talented and truly captured my soul with this new novel. This is Biblical fiction at it’s finest!  I am a lover of Historical fiction and this book fits the bill for best of 2017 so far! Reading about Cleopatra and Chava really moved me. I’ve heard of Cleopatra, of course, but never really read a book that centered around her time. So, getting to know Chava, the young woman waiting to take her place at the Queen’s side and Cleopatra, and all that was Alexandra, was truly an event I don’t want to forget. The detail that Ms. Hunt adds to this novel is breath taking and I won’t soon forget the feel of being in the heart of the story.  If you want a novel that will whisk you away to a time in history that isn’t often written about, then I suggest this… Read more »
