Book Review: The Promise Of A Letter by Kathleen Fuller

Book Review: The Promise Of A Letter by Kathleen Fuller

My Thoughts After reading Written In Love, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book 2. I finally did and let me tell you what. I absolutely adored it! Book 2 is wonderfully written and instantly captivating, just like book 1. Ms. Fuller once again takes us to Birch Creek where her readers get to fall in love all over again with past, and new characters.  Roman and Leanna’s characters really gripped me! I loved them both for different reasons. Roman’s character really pulled at my heart, perhaps because I always felt like I couldn’t please anyone know matter what I did. Watching him and seeing how he reacts to the letter from his grandmother, really tugged at my soul. I loved him! And sweet Leanna. Bless her. She’s so different from your typical Amish women and I loved that about her! Ms. Fuller truly did a good thing with her character. Seeing Roman and Leanna together, following them through this story, was a wonderful time.  This book is so full of messages of God’s understanding and forgiving grace. I loved that. I felt His presence while taking this journey with Leanna and Roman and I couldn’t wait to… Read more »

Review: Eygpt’s Sister by Angela Hunt

Review: Eygpt’s Sister by Angela Hunt

My Thoughts First, I just have to say how gorgeous this cover is! If I hadn’t been intrigued by the synopsis, I would have grabbed it up for the cover alone. Second, if you are not already a fan of Angela Hunt, then you will be after reading this amazingly chiseled novel. She is absolutely talented and truly captured my soul with this new novel. This is Biblical fiction at it’s finest!  I am a lover of Historical fiction and this book fits the bill for best of 2017 so far! Reading about Cleopatra and Chava really moved me. I’ve heard of Cleopatra, of course, but never really read a book that centered around her time. So, getting to know Chava, the young woman waiting to take her place at the Queen’s side and Cleopatra, and all that was Alexandra, was truly an event I don’t want to forget. The detail that Ms. Hunt adds to this novel is breath taking and I won’t soon forget the feel of being in the heart of the story.  If you want a novel that will whisk you away to a time in history that isn’t often written about, then I suggest this… Read more »

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Soldier Who Killed A King by David Kitz

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Soldier Who Killed A King by David Kitz

My Thoughts When it comes to fiction books that are centered around Biblical times, it takes a really good author to hook me into the story line. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading my Bible, however, not every author can create a story that brings the Biblical portion off the book pages and to the reader like a movie screen. David Kitz, however, truly hooked me with this book, and took me a first-class whirlwind ride through history.  I absolutely felt every emotion of this book, watching, most often on the edge of my seat, as Christ was cruxified. This book really brings to life the Biblical and the historical detail. As I watched the Roman Centurion who was tasked with awful task, I found myself with tears in my eyes, both for him, and for Christ. It was a heartwrenching, gut twisting, thought provoking story of sacrifice and pain.  This book……anything less than a 5 star review would be a disgrace. The style of which David Kitz wrote this novel is stunning and captivating. This book is definitely not for everyone though. If you are a reader of Biblical fiction, if you want to see what happened during… Read more »

Book Review: Bibleman: Say Goodbye To The Grand Duchess Of Greed

Book Review: Bibleman: Say Goodbye To The Grand Duchess Of Greed

My Thoughts This will be short review as this book is just a simple 32 pages. But, it will be a good review! When my children were younger (they are teens now!), they adored watching Bibleman. They even had the chance to meet Bibleman in person at a live event at a local church. They were so excited about that and Bibleman was filled with such Godly messages and themes for young children. So, when the opportunity to review this book arose, I jumped on the chance. I wasn’t disappointed! This fantabulous children’s book is filled with a wonderful message from God above! It is a book that teaches young ones about the meaning of greed and how it can hurt other’s without you realizing it. The way Bibleman swoops in and helps deliver the messages from the Bible, really brought back the memories for this mama! This book, with all it’s colorful pages and wonderful Bible messages is one I truly recommend to all who have young children. A 5 star, church library, family reading time, captivating childrens book, for sure!

Book Review: To Wager Her Heart by Tamera Alexander

Book Review: To Wager Her Heart by Tamera Alexander

My Thoughts I have been a fan of Tamera Alexander’s ever since I read her book, Inheritance. She captivated me with that book and I would read anything of hers blindly! I was super excited to take part in being able to review this newest release, the  third book in her Belle Meade Plantation series. Let me tell you what! I had so much fun reading this book. I loved the detail she incorporated into the story and the characters she created owned me while I read this book! It did not take me long to read it, I was that engrossed in it.  I love historical novels set around during, beginning and end of the Civil War. Ms. Alexander created this particular story post- Civil War and really made me feel a part of the time period. I could picture the clothing perfectly as the characters wore them, and the scenery was vivid in my mind.  I adored Alexandra and Sylas’ characters! Both were seeking a path in life that was their own and no one elses. Watching Alexander break away from her controlling father and seek a love that her heart wanted, was incredibly wonderful! Having dealt with… Read more »

Book Review: Healing Love by Jennifer Slattery

Book Review: Healing Love by Jennifer Slattery

My Thoughts Where do I begin with this review? No words justify the amount of feels I felt with this book. It is absolutely an amazing read. From heartache and pain to smiles and hope, Ms. Slattery stitches together a novel that will not soon leave the reader’s soul. You close the book and reflect on the story and the characters and their faith long into the night. It’s forever in my heart, that’s for sure! I have never been on a mission trip but I know of people that have. They come home with stories that will leave you in tears, sometimes from happiness, sometimes from sadness. Ms. Slattery filled this book with such detail that you can’t help but feel as if you, the reader, were right there in the center of the mission trip. Watching Brooke along side of Ubaldo really kept me hooked on the story. I loved both of their characters so much. I felt their emotions and their faith as if they were my own. When they came to terms with what God had in store for the two of them, together, I really felt it deep in my soul! Ms. Slattery has taken on… Read more »

Review: My Heart Belongs On Mackinac Island:Maude’s Mooring by Carrie Fancett Pagels

My Thoughts Oh my word! I absolutely adored Carrie Fancett Pagels’ work. She is fantabulous with creating her characters in a richly detailed way. The beautiful detail she added to the backdrop of the story really made me feel as though I was on the breathtaking Mackinac Island. Maude and Ben, and even Jack, quickly stole my heart. Sweet little Jack had me smiling more than once! The betrayal that Maude feels when she sees her “intended” married to another woman, was quickly felt in my heart. But, when she “runs” into Ben, the sparks were there and I loved watching their story unfold. Ms. Pagels fills this novel with wonderful descriptions to make the story blossom before the reader. The messages from God of forgiveness, hope, faith and love are woven perfectly throughout. This wonderfully chiseled,4 star book kept me turning the pages long into the night and I highly recommend it to all historical fiction lovers! Revell Reads Blog Tour Review: Under A Summer Sky by Melody Carlson

Revell Reads Blog Tour Review: Under A Summer Sky by Melody Carlson

My Thoughts I have always enjoyed reading Ms. Carlson’s books and this book is no exception! She once again hooked me from start to finish with this beautifully written novel. It is the third in the Follow Your Heart series, but the first one that I have read. Despite that, I was still instantly captivated by her beautifully portrayed characters and vivid details within the pages.  Growing up, one of my two best friends was the boy next door. Him and I used to do everything together. I used to dream of us growing up and getting married, having babies, and being a happy family. But, sadly, that was a long ago dream and when I had to move away. Reading Nicole’s story really brought back my childhood memories. I loved that feeling!  The backdrop of Savannah, GA was wonderful. I went to Savannah once a year or so back and loved the scenery. This story made me feel as if I was back again! Following Nicole and seeing her summer unfold in a whirlwind of events, from managing the art gallery to seeing two of the “boys” she grew up with again, really hooked me!  This is definitely a… Read more »
