Revell Reads Review: Pursued by Lisa Harris

Revell Reads Review: Pursued by Lisa Harris

My Thoughts:  Holy smokes! Ms. Harris is a FABULOUS thrilling, suspense author. Her book had it all. I mean all. It had the thrills of suspense, the chilling twists, the roller coaster ups and the breath taking romance that makes up a well rounded, beautifully written romantic suspense novel.  The characters within this book are perfectly chiseled. They are real-to-life and complexly portrayed in this thriller. Nikki, Erika, Tyler and the other secondary characters really pulled me into the heart of the story with them. Every fast paced move, every heart pounding scene truly came to life for me. I loved that!  Ms. Harris had me on the edge of the my seat through this whole book. I read it in one intense sitting! That is how a book is written, that’s for sure. She added the perfect amount of messages from God and kept the story line flowing. This story is filled with hope and trusting in Him. You need both in today’s world!  While this is not the first book in this series, it wasn’t hard to get acquainted with the characters and their stories. But, I will for sure be checking out the first two books in… Read more »

Revell Reads Blog Tour Review: Sandpiper Cove by Irene Hannon

My Thoughts: When I think of Irene Hannon, I think of suspense and thrills. But, I must say that this book, really was amazing. She is absolutely wonderful in her writing styles. Her books are unique and captivating and always have a message within the pages for the readers to reflect on. I loved that! Lexie and Adam’s characters are very complex yet blended smoothly in the story line. It’s a powerful story line. Some of the issues in the story, really hit home with me as I have two teen sons who have faced some of the same issues. It’s very heart wrenching, yet Ms. Hannon’s words are inspiring. I loved being able to feel a part of the story and understanding some of the characters feelings. I loved the characters that Ms. Hannon added to the story. They all wrapped around Lexie and Adam and complimented them well! There were a few occasions I found my self chuckling out loud when the secondary characters showed up in the story. It rounded out the feels of the book. I would definitely recommend this book to all with 4 star praises! It’s filled with heart stealing characters, a plot that… Read more »

Revell Reads Review: Rescue Me by Susan May Warren

Revell Reads Review: Rescue Me by Susan May Warren

This was an enjoyable read! I’m very pleased to have had the chance to read this new book by a very talented author. From start to finish of this well written novel, I was hooked. Every page turn brought something new and captivating to the story and I loved that. I loved Willow. I could see a lot of myself in her. She’s a sweet character and was created perfectly for her role in the story. And the fact that she’s got a “crush” on her sister’s boyfriend??? Loved that!!!! Sam’s character was a bit complex and I loved everything about him. His protectiveness over Willow, his protectiveness of the other characters in the story, really made me fall hard for him. This is definitely a book worth 4 stars that I will have on my keeper shelf for a long time to come. I’ll be recommending it to all my book loving friends that love a book filled with twists, humor and characters that steal your heart. While this was book 2 in a series, the events and characters were well written and didn’t leave me confused and wondering what happened. It’s easily read as a stand alone. Well… Read more »

Revell Reads Review: The Newcomer by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Revell Reads Review: The Newcomer by Suzanne Woods Fisher

As a long time fan of both Amish fiction and Ms. Fisher’s, I was excited to jump on this book. I must say that I am quite pleased that I did! Pennsylvania, Amish, and history, this book is one of Ms. Fisher’s finest pieces of work. I loved every minute of this story. This particular book is a little different than most Amish romances that I read, in that it’s more of the Amish settling in America. The characters that fill the pages of this book are wonderful. Anna, Bairn, Felix, Jacob…..all are beautifully chiseled and complex with emotions, faith and struggles. I felt like I had come home and settled into America right alongside these wonderful characters! Ms. Fisher’s ability to create a story, even a second story in a series, and not confuse the reader, is incredible. Her stories, like this one, are filled with God’s unending love, perseverance, romance and laughs. She adds a rollercoaster ride to the mix and keeps the readers hooked long in to the night as they have to turn each page to find out the next part of the story. This 4 star worthy book gets recommendations from me. If you love historical… Read more »

Revell Reads Review: A Moonbow Night by Laura Frantz

Revell Reads Review: A Moonbow Night by Laura Frantz

It’s been a long time since I sat down and read a Laura Frantz novel. When I saw this one available to read, I jumped on the chance. Something about the blurb of the book just called to me. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but it was calling. I am quite pleased that I took the chance on it! It’s a book worth reading for sure. A Moonbow Night takes us to Kentucky and introduces us to Tempe and Sion. The history that is woven, the attention to details so the reader feels a part of Tempe and Sion’s story, is absolutely incredible. I was instantly transported to Kentucky and felt the struggles, the attraction, the ways of the land as if I was truly there. Ms. Frantz created a 5 star worthy novel and wove it with captivating scenes. The characters, the setting, the page turning ups and downs of this beautiful historical novel is one I highly recommend to all! Well done, Ms. Fratz.

Review: Every Bride Needs A Groom by Janice Thompson

Review: Every Bride Needs A Groom by Janice Thompson

My Thoughts: Ms. Thompson is one of my absolute favorite Christian fiction authors. She is the queen of laughs and I love each and everyone of her novels. This start to a new series is definitely a fabulous addition to her works! She blends romance, comedy, witty characters and faith into one amazing, laugh out loud read. Following Katie’s story and hearing about her family. They all were a bit on the quirky witty side and I fell in love with all of them. Katie’s quest to win the ultimate wedding dress for a couture shop was awesome, and when she met Brady…..well let’s just say that I wasn’t going to sleep anytime soon when I got in the middle of their story. With plenty of inspiration woven in, and real-to-life events and characters that capture your heart, Ms. Thompson has once again created a novel that will forever be on my bookshelf. I can not wait to read more about her amazingly created brides and get my laugh on again in the next installment of Brides With Style! Well done, Ms. Thompson!

Revell Blog Tour Review: Summer Of Joy by Ann H. Gabhart

Revell Blog Tour Review: Summer Of Joy by Ann H. Gabhart

My Thoughts: When I think of reading an Ann Gabhart novel, I  think Shakers. The first novel I read by Ms. Gabhart was one of her Shaker novels, called The Seeker. I loved it. Her writing style is different, yet refreshing and really captivates me with each book that I read. Summer Of Joy was no different, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading. However, sadly, I didn’t read both the first books in this series, so I want to go back and read them.  In this novel, Ms. Gabhart captures everything from romance, to secrets and letting go of the past. She fills the book with tenderness and love, but also with anger and hatred. It makes for a wonderful combination as you turn the pages. Jocie’s character really brought out my mama side! I wanted to wrap her up and hold her all day long and tell her everything would be okay!  Of course, Ms. Gabhart adds characters that made me quite mad, too! For instance, Jocie’s mother. Let’s just say, I wanted to through the book across the room and throttle her! But, Ms. Gabhart over came that with adding humor to the story to keep me smiling through… Read more »

Book Review: In The Shadow Of Jezebel by Mesu Andrews

Book Review: In The Shadow Of Jezebel by Mesu Andrews

My Thoughts: I love Biblical fiction…….I love the feel of comfort and warmth you get as the author creates a novel of Biblical times making it come alive. The books just suck me in and keep me hooked. It’s a wonderful feeling really, and Mesu Andrews is on of the most talented Biblical fiction authors. Truly. She is amazing and her stories are an escape for me into a world where I can breath easy. Jehosheba, or Sheba as many may know her, is an amazing character! I loved how she was created, and I felt as if I was reading her story straight from the Bible. Ms. Andrews truly created her story in such a life like manner! I love it. Watching as Sheba was married off and came to love her husband, watching as he taught her about the love of God, become so captivating to me, that I stayed awake until 3 in the morning turning the pages. It’s just incredible how Ms. Andrews creates a passionate, emotionally moving story. I definitely recommend this book with the highest of 4.5 stars. While it’s the fourth in Ms. Andrews’ Treasures Of His Love series, it’s most definitely easily… Read more »
