My Thoughts: When I think of Irene Hannon, I think of suspense and thrills. But, I must say that this book, really was amazing. She is absolutely wonderful in her writing styles. Her books are unique and captivating and always have a message within the pages for the readers to reflect on. I loved that! Lexie and Adam’s characters are very complex yet blended smoothly in the story line. It’s a powerful story line. Some of the issues in the story, really hit home with me as I have two teen sons who have faced some of the same issues. It’s very heart wrenching, yet Ms. Hannon’s words are inspiring. I loved being able to feel a part of the story and understanding some of the characters feelings. I loved the characters that Ms. Hannon added to the story. They all wrapped around Lexie and Adam and complimented them well! There were a few occasions I found my self chuckling out loud when the secondary characters showed up in the story. It rounded out the feels of the book. I would definitely recommend this book to all with 4 star praises! It’s filled with heart stealing characters, a plot that… Read more »

Excerpt CHAPTER 2 Someone was coming. After reeling in his line, Isaac Troyer set his pole on the bank next to Spot, his Australian shepherd, and turned in the direction of the noise. He wasn’t worried about encountering a stranger as much as curious to know who would walk through the woods while managing to disturb every tree branch, twig, and bird in their midst. A silent tracker, this person was not. Beside him, Spot, named for the spot of black fur ringing his eye, pricked his ears and tilted his head to one side as he, too, listened and watched for their guest to appear. When they heard a muffled umph, followed by the crack of a branch, Isaac began to grow amused. Their visitor didn’t seem to be faring so well. He wasn’t surprised. That path was rarely used and notoriously overrun with hollyhocks, poison oak, and ivy. For some reason, wild rosebushes also ran rampant there. Though walking on the old path made for a pretty journey, it also was a somewhat dangerous one, too. Those bushes had a lot of thorns. Most everyone he knew chose to walk on the road instead. He was just wondering… Read more »
My Thoughts: This is my first Kristy Cambron book and it most certainly will not be my last. I wasn’t quite sure what to think of it when I got it, and read the synopsis but the cover was very captivating, so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed! In fact, I read this book in less than 48 hours. It was that good. From start to finish, Ms. Cambron creates a captivating plot line that will grip the reader til the end. Following Wren Lockhart literally left me on the edge of my seat, gripping the book, waiting to see what happened next in this beautifully woven tale. It was such a thrilling blend of mystery and intrigue! Ms. Cambron really did a wonderful job on the scenes of history and the characters that came to life. I felt a part of Wren and Agent Matthews’world of Houdini and romance. If you are looking for a laugh out loud book, don’t look here. If you are looking for a book that is full of detail and mystery, will sweep you off your feet, twist you up, and make you land in a place that you just want to… Read more »
My Thoughts: Let me get myself together for a moment. *Deep breaths*. Ok. There, that’s better. Where was I? Oh yes. I was going to tell you my thoughts on this book. This is my first Jennifer Slattery book. It most certainly will not be my last. It’s like this book is speaking to me. It’s a book on second chances, on honesty, on restoring faith and hope. That’s what this book did to me now, after recent troubles in my life. Through the characters, both good ones and bad, I fell in love with this book. Their stories showed me that if I believe, if I have faith, my heart will be restored. Leaning on God and understanding that it’s all in His time, His will, love can be restored no matter what. Letting go, forgiveness, and acceptance make up wonderful pages of this book. The characters blended perfectly with the plot line and captivated me, heart and soul. Ms. Slattery’s book is deserving of no less than 5 stars. If I could give it 5,000 stars I would. I highly recommend that you grab this book, devour it and feel the feels that I felt in this book. You… Read more »
Molly’s Thoughts: A long time fan of Ms. Blackstock, I was excited to pick up this book. I wasn’t disappointed, that was for sure! From first page to last, I was on the edge of my seat, devouring the suspense long in to the night. The rush of anticipation was strong with this book! Casey, Dylan, and all the secondary characters are complexly created and I loved that. They need to be for their roles in the plot line. Reading this story transformed me into Casey for the duration of the book. I felt all her emotions, all her fears, all her hopes as if they were my own. That was powerful! Just when I thought I knew what was coming, Ms. Blackstock twisted the story up and left me in awe, thinking about the twist. Ms. Blackstock once again created a story that is filled with messages from God, characters that are jaw droppingly awesome, and a story line that packs an incredible punch! This book was amazing. Absolutely amazing. The message that is woven into this book, that God’s grace is sufficient through all times, good and bad, is powerful and incredible. It is just what I needed to read. Ms. Afshar is superbly talented and knew just what this reader need to read. Boaz and Ruth, along with Naomi, are created perfectly. I felt like I had taken a trip right to the heart of the Bible and followed their story. Both suffered tragedies beyond compare, both seeking happiness, both reaching out to each other. The way they were portrayed, the way they interacted and fell in love, made me fall in love with the whole story. It was perfect! Ms. Afshar’s book is high on my recommendations list. From start to finish, I was lost in the pages of this book, and I had it done in less than a day. It was that good. This book is powerful and worth so much more than simple 5 stars. It is worthy of 5 million stars. When it comes to Biblical fiction this is the kind of book I seek and I am so incredibly pleased to have read it.
Holy smokes! Ms. Ellis is amazing! I’m used to reading her Amish books, so when the chance to read her Sunset In Old Savannah novel, I jumped on the chance. I wanted to see her talent at work in a suspenseful genre. It was not disappointing, that’s for sure. I lost myself among the pages of this gripping novel and I wasn’t expecting the ending that I got! I love a book like this. Ms. Ellis created a novel that all readers will love. It’s a touch of romance, Godly messages woven through out, a whole lotta twists, and a dash of humor. Beth and Michael’s characters will quickly work their way into your heart and they will stay there. They will take you on the whirl wind that is investigations, and lead you on a roller coaster ride that is evident with murders. Following Michael and Beth along the streets of Savannah (I’ve been once, and fell in love with the quaint town!) was so much fun! I was definitely on the edge of my seat for each page and stayed up long into the night reading. Ms. Ellis is a wonderful author. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading books… Read more »
I will confess that it’s been quite some time since I read a middle grade/young adult book, but perusing my children’s family night book fair, I came across this book. I read the back of it and noticed one thing. Biltmore. Living in North Carolina, a few hours away from the Biltmore, I thought it would be the perfect dive back into the wonderful world of innocence and fun. I wasn’t wrong! Serafina and The Black Cloak is a wonderful start to Mr. Beatty’s Serafina series. I read this in two sittings and loved every minute of this read! Serafina’s character is wonderful and I loved following her along the halls of the Biltmore Estate. The story is filled with just the right amount of kid-friendly mystery and is perfect for those curious minds that love to seek out clues and solve the puzzle. Serafina’s search for answers on the disappearances within the walls of the magnificently built estate, and the lovely story line, Mr. Beatty has just become my favorite author for books like this. I am already looking forward to reading book 2, Serafina and the Twisted Staff. If it’s anything like this book, it will be just… Read more »
I absolutely love Wanda Brunstetter and her work. I was so excited to get the chance to read and review this book, her first in the Amish Cooking Class series. Setting down to read it, I knew I would be in for fun, but just how much, I had no idea! This book is filled with laughter, romance, faith, hope, inspiration and lots of gut cooking! Ms. Brunstetter once again creates a novel filled with heart warming characters, plot lines that keep you hooked and messages woven that will leave you thinking and reflecting long after the book is closed. All the characters within this novel face a different challenge in their lives, but through faith and coming together to cook, Ms. Brunstetter sends us on a ride that leaves us smiling at these characters that have come to try and learn to cook. This is beyond a 5 star book. It’s the first of the series, and I’m already wishing I had book 2, The Blessing. If you are looking for a fast paced, inspirational book about the simple life, look no further than this fabulous book. As a bonus, you’ll get some great recipes from the… Read more »
As an Amish fiction lover, I couldn’t wait to read this anthology! These 4 authors are absolutely amazing and I have been a fan of their work for many years. These four stories are beautifully written and so full of wonderful characters and messages. Each page turn brought more inspiration and by the end of the book, I was sitting there reflecting, thinking about my own life and the simple things we tend to take for granted. I loved all four stories, but Beth Wiseman’s story, A Cup Half Full, really stuck with me. Sarah’s disability and her doubts and fears and having trouble accepting God’s will really is something I’ve dealt with. Beth Wiseman’s attention to Amish simplicity during trying times and weaving God’s understanding grace into the story really was a wonderful experience. This book is worthy of 5 stars and highest recommendations. If you love wonderfully written stories, faith inspired plot lines and authors who love their readers, then this is a book just for you. I can’t wait for another beautifully written anthology by highly talented authors!
