My Thoughts I absolutely love Maggie Brendan and her books. She creates wonderful stories filled with beautiful characters, lots of quirks, and a plot line that will pull you in instantly. Trusting Grace is the third book in this series, but the first one that I have read. I’m so glad that I did! Grace, Robert and the children were all wonderful characters. They came to life instantly, pulling me in, capturing my heart. The interaction between Grace and Robert and Grace and the children left me smiling. The sparks that fly between Grace and Robert are endearing and I loved watching Robert come to terms with the way he feels about Grace. This is a story of anger, love, letting go and moving on. A story of learning to trust again. God works His way into the story line, leaving the reader with messages of hope and faith in the end. If you love a story that will not only warm your heart, but is filled with captivating characters, history, and hope, then look no further than this beautifully woven novel. This is worth 4 star praises and recommendations to all Christian fiction lovers. Ms. Brendan will leave you wanting… Read more »
My Thoughts: This is my first Kristy Cambron book and it most certainly will not be my last. I wasn’t quite sure what to think of it when I got it, and read the synopsis but the cover was very captivating, so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed! In fact, I read this book in less than 48 hours. It was that good. From start to finish, Ms. Cambron creates a captivating plot line that will grip the reader til the end. Following Wren Lockhart literally left me on the edge of my seat, gripping the book, waiting to see what happened next in this beautifully woven tale. It was such a thrilling blend of mystery and intrigue! Ms. Cambron really did a wonderful job on the scenes of history and the characters that came to life. I felt a part of Wren and Agent Matthews’world of Houdini and romance. If you are looking for a laugh out loud book, don’t look here. If you are looking for a book that is full of detail and mystery, will sweep you off your feet, twist you up, and make you land in a place that you just want to… Read more »
It’s been a long time since I sat down and read a Laura Frantz novel. When I saw this one available to read, I jumped on the chance. Something about the blurb of the book just called to me. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but it was calling. I am quite pleased that I took the chance on it! It’s a book worth reading for sure. A Moonbow Night takes us to Kentucky and introduces us to Tempe and Sion. The history that is woven, the attention to details so the reader feels a part of Tempe and Sion’s story, is absolutely incredible. I was instantly transported to Kentucky and felt the struggles, the attraction, the ways of the land as if I was truly there. Ms. Frantz created a 5 star worthy novel and wove it with captivating scenes. The characters, the setting, the page turning ups and downs of this beautiful historical novel is one I highly recommend to all! Well done, Ms. Fratz.
My Thoughts: I went into this book with an open mind. I loved historical books, but generally though, I love those centered around the Civil War and WWI. Don’t get me wrong, I love books from the WWII era as well, but only if they are well written and superbly captivating. This book fell slightly short of completely captivating me. That said, I did enjoy this book and was glad that I gave it a shot. It’s a story written from a female German’s perspective. The need to escape, and to survive, and to save those around her is strong and evident. Definitely poignantly written. Gisela captures and steals your heart from the start. The story line, however, is what left me lacking in completely being captivated. There were times that I became a little confused and couldn’t follow along very well. Ms. Tolsma is a talented author who will be on my continued Must Read list despite the lacking story line. I’m looking forward to reading more of her work in the near future!
My Thoughts: Unfortunately, I wasn’t into this book like I thought I would be. I love historical fiction and when I hear of new ones, I’m always quick to jump on reading them. So, when I saw this one become available, and read the blurb, I grabbed it. Then, sitting down to read it, I was very, very disappointed. It was definitely not what I was expecting and often times, left me wondering what the author was doing with the story. Perhaps, if I had read book 1, it would be a lot easier to follow along. But, I didn’t and now I’m left hanging. I want to embrace the characters but the author dragged their stories out. I lost interest two-thirds into the story. That said, I still recommend you try this book. It’s a 1 star rating from my personal opinion but to others who have read book 1 will enjoy it. Even if you hadn’t read book 1, grab a copy and try it. You may find that you love it. This will not persuade me to never try this author’s work again. I am actually looking forward to trying her work again, as this may have… Read more »
My Thoughts: I’ve been a big fan of Lori Copeland and Virginia Smith for some time now, and I was excited to start a new book in a brand new series by the collaborators. Sadly, I was a little disappointed in this book. It started off way to slow for my liking. But, with that said, I did push on and ended up flying through the second half of the book and enjoying my time reading this book. Evie and Noah are both such sweet characters that found a home in my heart to stay. I loved Noah almost from the start, despite the slow beginning. He really was a character and I was happy to follow his journey! Evie. Now that’s a character that you will love. Wit and charm come head to head on this sweet journey of love and faith, hope and happily-ever-afters. With attention to historical detail, this team has once again created a new series that I am glad I tried. I know there was a slow beginning, but not all books are the same, and start off fast. I just had to push through the first chapters and then bam! They hit me with… Read more »
My Thoughts: I’ve enjoyed Ms. Hodgson’s books in the past, and these collection of novellas was no different. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this tender book! Centered just after the Civil War, Ms. Hodgson brings to life the historical elements, the styles, the way of living after such a hard time. I loved it! Ms. Hodgson created strong, charming characters that felt real to me. I felt like I made a new friend, or family member, through them as I followed each character from each story on their life’s journey. I loved the hidden messages of faith, hope, love, understanding and trusting that Ms. Hodgson incorporates into the books. I highly recommend this book with 4 stars. It will move you, entertain you and keep you hooked until the end. I am looking forward to the next book that Ms. Hodgson brings her readers. She’s truly talented and this is a job well done!
My Thoughts: Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into this story to finish it. It wasn’t written the way I thought it was and I couldn’t focus on it. This book unfortunately, falls in the DNF category for me. I just didn’t like the style in which it was written. Perhaps another book by Ms. Higley will be better for me.
My Thoughts: Sweet Saints above, Ms. Lessman has done it again!!! Next to Karen Kingsbury, she is absolutely positively my absolute favorite Christian Fiction author. I love her work! Her characters (my favorite is Katie from A Hope Undaunted!) steal you away to their time and place and sweep you into their mix for a time. I laugh, I cry, I smile through all her books and her characters……well, they are chiseled absolutely perfectly for their stories! Oh my! Cassidy was absolute a breath of fresh air! I loved the phrases she used through out the story. Ms. Lessman used phrases my granddaddy used to use before he passed away years ago, it brought back so many memories for me! And her heart, bless her, she just wanted to let go of her broken engagement from a gold digger and move on with becoming a teacher in a new place. I laughed at her and wanted to wrap her up and squeeze her tight! And Jamie McKenna……oh sweet lawdy, I loved him! Can we say *drool*??? That is one fine man….err, um. Yes, back to my review. Jamie is a wonderful man and I saw it from the start! He… Read more »
My Thoughts: I love Biblical fiction…….I love the feel of comfort and warmth you get as the author creates a novel of Biblical times making it come alive. The books just suck me in and keep me hooked. It’s a wonderful feeling really, and Mesu Andrews is on of the most talented Biblical fiction authors. Truly. She is amazing and her stories are an escape for me into a world where I can breath easy. Jehosheba, or Sheba as many may know her, is an amazing character! I loved how she was created, and I felt as if I was reading her story straight from the Bible. Ms. Andrews truly created her story in such a life like manner! I love it. Watching as Sheba was married off and came to love her husband, watching as he taught her about the love of God, become so captivating to me, that I stayed awake until 3 in the morning turning the pages. It’s just incredible how Ms. Andrews creates a passionate, emotionally moving story. I definitely recommend this book with the highest of 4.5 stars. While it’s the fourth in Ms. Andrews’ Treasures Of His Love series, it’s most definitely easily… Read more »
