Book Review: Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake

Book Review: Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake

My Thoughts: I gotta say that I don’t read much young adult horror. A lot of times, things drag on and on for me and I lose interest really quickly. However, at the encouragement of the librarian, I checked this one out. And I have to admit that wow! I loved it!  I mean really. The cover alone is gorgeous but it’s what’s between the covers that pulled me in.  My son and I love to watch Ghost Hunters, and basically anything ghost-y on TV. So, it was definitely interesting to read about Cas……a ghost killer. On the trails of the ghost that kills his father, he finds Anna Korlov. Wowza! What a ghost! She’s the girl dressed in blood and terrorizes the town she lives in. She kills. But, when she crosses paths with Cas, the interesting twists begin.  This is definitely not your average ghost story! It’s so much better! I definitely recommend this novel with high flying 5 stars and can’t wait to read the next Anna book, Girl Of Nightmares! Great, fantastic job, Ms. Blake!

Book Review: In The Shadow Of Jezebel by Mesu Andrews

Book Review: In The Shadow Of Jezebel by Mesu Andrews

My Thoughts: I love Biblical fiction…….I love the feel of comfort and warmth you get as the author creates a novel of Biblical times making it come alive. The books just suck me in and keep me hooked. It’s a wonderful feeling really, and Mesu Andrews is on of the most talented Biblical fiction authors. Truly. She is amazing and her stories are an escape for me into a world where I can breath easy. Jehosheba, or Sheba as many may know her, is an amazing character! I loved how she was created, and I felt as if I was reading her story straight from the Bible. Ms. Andrews truly created her story in such a life like manner! I love it. Watching as Sheba was married off and came to love her husband, watching as he taught her about the love of God, become so captivating to me, that I stayed awake until 3 in the morning turning the pages. It’s just incredible how Ms. Andrews creates a passionate, emotionally moving story. I definitely recommend this book with the highest of 4.5 stars. While it’s the fourth in Ms. Andrews’ Treasures Of His Love series, it’s most definitely easily… Read more »

Berkley/Obsidian Blog Tour Review: Keeping Mum by Alyse Carlson

Berkley/Obsidian Blog Tour Review: Keeping Mum by Alyse Carlson

My Thoughts: This was a great read! Though third in the series, this book is easily read as a stand alone. From witty characters, to a plot line full of twists and chuckles, it keeps the pages turning long in to the night. And, being set in Roanoke Virginia made me love it all the more, since I’m a Virginia brat. Ms. Carlson’s cast of characters were ones that quickly became friends and I was happy to follow Cam and Annie around on their Garden Society crime solving. Politics and murder. The two things that always seem to go together. Ms. Carlson did a fabulous job at blending the two. Cam and Annie’s characters were likable and often laughable, as they plotted and planned a silent auction for the high society folks of Roanoke. Concluding on a murder mystery style function, they were in for a big surprise when a guest really does turn up dead! The who-done-it of the story came to full play as they picked and weeded through who could have wanted the guest dead (and oh there were plenty!). Add to the murder a missing person and Ms. Carlson rounded it out perfectly. Each page brought… Read more »
