Review: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Review: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

My Thoughts: I usually don’t read books about faeries and the like. I love werewolves and vampires but faeries…..well, they don’t hold my attention that well. However, I’ve heard loads of good things in regards to Ms. Kagawa’s writing style that I just had to give in and read The Iron King. It was my first read for 2015 and I’m happy to say that despite the fact that I don’t like reading about the Fey I’m totally into Ms. Kagawa’s work! I loved this book. It was definitely a great start to the new year! The beginning of the book, I will admit, was a little slow for me. I had trouble focusing and staying focused. But, I was determined to read it…..and to like it…..so I pushed on and on and I finished the story in just one day. And, I fell in love with the story line and the characters. They become a part of me and the story swept me into the Iron Fey series with a whoosh. After the 4th chapter, I didn’t know what hit me, but I was turning pages faster than you can say “Kagawa”. Being swept away like that, is a… Read more »

Book Review:Intertwined by Gena Showalter

Book Review:Intertwined by Gena Showalter

My Thoughts: I am a huge fan of Gena Showalter since I read her Alice In Zombieland book. It was amazing! She really has a talented hand for creating stories that are always lively, never boring. She pulls the reader straight to the heart of the story and keeps them there following the characters every step of the way.  Intertwined was an awesome start to a series that I know I will love through out. Ms. Showalter created intense scenes and characters in this novel. I loved Aden so much! He was a strongly created character and I totally crushed on him through the story. (Shhh….let’s not tell that little secret, shall we?) I can’t imagine what life was like for him!  Victoria, Riley and Mary Anne are all wonderfully created, as well. They were truly amazing and I loved following them and their quirkiness.  With Aden, Victoria, Riley and Mary Anne, Ms. Showalter added a blend of elements here. A vampire, werewolf, human……something you usually don’t hear about in one set book. But, Ms. Showalter did it fabulously and I can’t wait to read book 2 in this amazing series! Fantastically done, Ms. Showalter, on creating a 4 star… Read more »

Book Review: No Place Like Oz by Danielle Paige

Book Review: No Place Like Oz by Danielle Paige

My Thoughts: Holy Munchkins, Dorothy! I loved this book. Not just a little bit. Like, it’s the best prequel. Ever. No two ways about it, this is by far, my absolute favorite novella ever written. I’m a big re-telling fan, but most of Alice In Wonderland and those types of books. But, Wizard Of Oz is one of my favorite all time movies, so, I wanted to try out Ms. Paige’s work. I pre-ordered Dorothy Must Die like ages ago, and can’t wait for the release. But, I  was curious about the whole series so when I saw that there was a prequel I grabbed it. I didn’t want it to end!  Ms. Paige did a magnificent job of creating this story. Those that have watched Wizard Of Oz, know that there is a sequel to it called Return To Oz, starring Fairuza Balk. Reading Ms. Paige’s No Place Like Oz, was like watching a movie of both those combined. There were details to the book that was like reading movie 1, and there were details to the book that was like reading movie 2. But, along the way, Ms. Paige added laughable moments, witty characters that you wouldn’t see… Read more »

Book Review: City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Book Review: City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare

My Thoughts: What can I say about this book? I can say Oh.Mah.Gawd!!! I was hesitant with this book. I didn’t think I would like it at all so I put off and put off on getting it and reading it……but, I finally broke down and did it after checking it out from the library. Oh.Mah.Gawd again……. I am so pleased with every aspect of this novel! Clary’s character is wonderfully created but Jace’s character…….good lord, I loved every bit of him! The ups and downs that Clary and Jace went through was amazing and I felt like I was a part of every bit of it. The murders, the Shadowhunters, all of them added up to be one heck of a ride! Ms. Clare’s work is wonderful and I am so glad that I finally listened to everyone and read this 5 star novel. Now, I’m literally dying to read book 2. I absolutely can not wait to get it from the library and continue one with these amazing characters and the Shadowhunters. Fabulously done, Ms. Clare! Keep up the fantastic writing and you definitely have a new fan in me!
