My Thoughts Oh my goodness! I absolutely loved everything about this book. Roseanna M. White has been a long time favorite of mine and I was so excited to see what she had in store for her fans this time. I have to say that she did a wonderful job, yet again, and filled this book with wonderful pieces of history, Godly messages of love and hope, and characters that are beautifully created. I loved Rosemary and Peter’s characters. They instantly captured my heart and kept me hooked til the last page. Following Rosemary and her thiefing ways, and Peter’s writing ways, Ms. White really took me on a whirlwind ride. Seeing Peter struggling with his stuttering really brought out the mama in me! I definitely recommend this book with the highest of 5 stars! Filled with faith, love, friendship, and wit, you absolutely do not want to miss this fantabulous start to a new series by the talented hands of Ms. White. You’ll be taken to a place in history that will cacoon you in all the feels and keep you there until you reach the end. Then you’ll be desperately waiting until the next book releases! Well done,… Read more »

My Thoughts This is a new to me author and one I’ll be reading again! Dragon Seed really pulled me into the heart of the story instantly. From the start I was completely engrossed and taken on a fast paced ride of what’s right and wrong. That’s saying something for this book as I’m not a huge fan of young adult reads. However, this book….oh, this book really hooked me! As a mom of two teens, one of whom is troubled and angry often times, this book hit home with me in so many ways. It’s so much more than a simple young adult read. It’s a book filled with Bible lessons and messages of prideful ways and seeking more of Him. I loved that! These are the kinds of characters, and plot lines, that I want to see my children reading! Lessons of good versus evil, right versus wrong….all of it so gripping! This book is definitely worthy of 5 stars. It’s phenomenaly created, it’s well rounded with complex characters and God’s lessons. If you are looking for a laugh out loud book for your child/teenager, then this isn’t quite the book for you. If you are looking for… Read more »
My Thoughts When I first read the title of this book, I thought I would be reading another Amish novel from a talented author. However, after sitting down and opening the first pages of the book, I quickly realized it wasn’t your normal Amish fiction. This book was truly well written and kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved the sisters and visiting the country side of Lancaster County! I loved getting to know the sisters! Angela and Rose, sisters who long to reconnect their relationship, really kept me captivated through out this story. I enjoyed following them to Lancaster County to visit sweet Aunt Sylvia, their Mennonite aunt, watching them change and grow in their relationship and learning to accept what God has in store for them, instead of what they had in store for themselves. This story of faith, hope and longing is beautifully written and highly captivating. If you want your normal Amish fiction novel, that will be solely about the Amish, then this isn’t the book for you. If you are looking for a 4 star, wonderfully chiseled contemporary story filled with heart capturing characters and a whirlwind plot line, that keeps you hanging on… Read more »
My Thoughts Oh my word! I absolutely adored Carrie Fancett Pagels’ work. She is fantabulous with creating her characters in a richly detailed way. The beautiful detail she added to the backdrop of the story really made me feel as though I was on the breathtaking Mackinac Island. Maude and Ben, and even Jack, quickly stole my heart. Sweet little Jack had me smiling more than once! The betrayal that Maude feels when she sees her “intended” married to another woman, was quickly felt in my heart. But, when she “runs” into Ben, the sparks were there and I loved watching their story unfold. Ms. Pagels fills this novel with wonderful descriptions to make the story blossom before the reader. The messages from God of forgiveness, hope, faith and love are woven perfectly throughout. This wonderfully chiseled,4 star book kept me turning the pages long into the night and I highly recommend it to all historical fiction lovers! The characters, the plot line, the messages will all steal your heart and take you on a whirl wind right through Mackinac Island, leaving you wanting more. Visiting Mackinac Island is now at the top of my bucket list thanks to Ms…. Read more »
My Thoughts I have always enjoyed reading Ms. Carlson’s books and this book is no exception! She once again hooked me from start to finish with this beautifully written novel. It is the third in the Follow Your Heart series, but the first one that I have read. Despite that, I was still instantly captivated by her beautifully portrayed characters and vivid details within the pages. Growing up, one of my two best friends was the boy next door. Him and I used to do everything together. I used to dream of us growing up and getting married, having babies, and being a happy family. But, sadly, that was a long ago dream and when I had to move away. Reading Nicole’s story really brought back my childhood memories. I loved that feeling! The backdrop of Savannah, GA was wonderful. I went to Savannah once a year or so back and loved the scenery. This story made me feel as if I was back again! Following Nicole and seeing her summer unfold in a whirlwind of events, from managing the art gallery to seeing two of the “boys” she grew up with again, really hooked me! This is definitely a… Read more »
My Thoughts Ms. Delamere has a new fan in me! I am really glad I took the chance on this book (I almost passed it up as I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not!). Ms. Delamere has a wonderful talent for quickly capturing her readers’ hearts and her attention to historical detail in London was beautifully done. From the start, I was wrapped up in Rosalyn’s story. I was on the streets of London with her, feeling her feelings as if they were my own. The life on stage was vibrantly created and I loved the way the book blossomed into a play itself before my eyes. When Nate was introduced, my heart swooned for him! I loved his character! When he and Rosalyn interacted, I was rooting for them the whole way through the book! I highly recommend this 4 star book. It’s a story of finding where you belong, a story of hope and faith, and God’s guiding light. If you want a book that will capture you, wrap you up in a wonderful adventure of theater and falling in love, then grab a copy of this book! You can follow the tour by visiting… Read more »
My Thoughts I will be honest and say that I wasn’t quite sure if I would like this novel or not. The blurb sounded interesting enough, but it was my first Jan Drexler novel and I hadn’t had the pleasure of reading the first books in this series. But, sitting down, opening the pages, I got lost in the historical detail and wonderful Amish lifestyle. I loved Naomi’s character, and her love for little Davey. The way she took took to him an he to her, really pulled at my heart. When Cap enters the picture, I loved the way their story played out. I was in love with their little group! But, as with any well written story, there is always a character I dislike and in this one I didn’t like Shem. His conniving ways really threw me off of his character. Overall, this was a 3.5 star book that I would encourage all Amish and historical lovers to try. It’s a story filled with God’s love and grace, a story of hope and forgiveness, and a story of longing. Ms. Drexler is a talented author and I’ll be looking forward to reading more of her work!
My Thoughts I’m new to Ms. Johnson’s work, but I won’t be for long! I truly enjoyed this beautifully written novel. It’s the 3rd book in her Keys Of Promise series, but it was still highly enjoyable, despite not reading the first two books. In this novel, Ms. Johnson weaves the perfect combination of faith, hope, and love, along with beautifully depicted historical elements. I was instantly captivated from page one and this book took me on a whirl wind ride until the end. Catherine and Tom both stole my heart for the long run, and I loved following their story! Ms. Johnson created a story well worth 4 stars, for sure! This is a quick, beautiful read and I am already anxious for more! I can’t wait to go back and read the first two books in this wonderful series, and I look forward to adding Ms. Johnson among my favorite authors list! Well done, and bring on the next!
Guest post from Chautona Havig “Who are you, again?” “I’m Joe’s, daughter. Vyonie.” My sister pointed to me. “This is Chautona.” For some odd reason, the niece she spent the least amount of time with, Aunt Doris remembered—somewhat. But she didn’t remember Vyonie from what I could tell. She smiled at me, that amazing, sweet smile I’d never forget. She asked how I was. I always thought that Mrs. Sanderson—mother of John, Alicia, and Carl on the TV show, Little House on the Prairie—looked and sounded like Aunt Doris. Of course, that memory of me didn’t last. A minute or two later, she gave me a big smile and asked if she knew me. It gave me a picture of what it must have been like for my character, Ella Weeks—to wake up every day with these children there—children who knew her, but she didn’t remember. The hurt she caused every time she had to struggle to admit she didn’t know something she probably should—again. So, I thought I’d ask her to tell us about it. Ella: People often assume that the worst part of losing my memory are the memories that disappeared, too. But it’s not. A much as… Read more »
Patricia Davids’ Movie Star Cast What writer doesn’t dream of seeing their favorite actor and actress playing the hero and heroine of their novel in a movie? I like movies but I love books because a well-written book takes you inside the mind and emotions of the character. You feel what they feel. Great actors can portray those emotions but for me an important part of the story is missing when a book is turned into a movie. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have one of my books on the big screen. Yes, please! So, who do I want to see playing Fannie Erb and Noah Bowman? I’d want Karen Gillan to play Fannie. Karen has the red hair, the spunk, and the infectious smile that comes to mind when I think of Fannie. She is a very talented actress and I think she could bring an honest depth to the role. I have no idea if she rides horses or can drive a buggy. That would be a must-have skill to play Fannie’s role. Who should play Noah? That requires a little more thought. After careful consideration, and the joy of browsing through dozens of photos and… Read more »
