Book Review: To Wager Her Heart by Tamera Alexander

Book Review: To Wager Her Heart by Tamera Alexander

My Thoughts I have been a fan of Tamera Alexander’s ever since I read her book, Inheritance. She captivated me with that book and I would read anything of hers blindly! I was super excited to take part in being able to review this newest release, the  third book in her Belle Meade Plantation series. Let me tell you what! I had so much fun reading this book. I loved the detail she incorporated into the story and the characters she created owned me while I read this book! It did not take me long to read it, I was that engrossed in it.  I love historical novels set around during, beginning and end of the Civil War. Ms. Alexander created this particular story post- Civil War and really made me feel a part of the time period. I could picture the clothing perfectly as the characters wore them, and the scenery was vivid in my mind.  I adored Alexandra and Sylas’ characters! Both were seeking a path in life that was their own and no one elses. Watching Alexander break away from her controlling father and seek a love that her heart wanted, was incredibly wonderful! Having dealt with… Read more »

Book Review: Healing Love by Jennifer Slattery

Book Review: Healing Love by Jennifer Slattery

My Thoughts Where do I begin with this review? No words justify the amount of feels I felt with this book. It is absolutely an amazing read. From heartache and pain to smiles and hope, Ms. Slattery stitches together a novel that will not soon leave the reader’s soul. You close the book and reflect on the story and the characters and their faith long into the night. It’s forever in my heart, that’s for sure! I have never been on a mission trip but I know of people that have. They come home with stories that will leave you in tears, sometimes from happiness, sometimes from sadness. Ms. Slattery filled this book with such detail that you can’t help but feel as if you, the reader, were right there in the center of the mission trip. Watching Brooke along side of Ubaldo really kept me hooked on the story. I loved both of their characters so much. I felt their emotions and their faith as if they were my own. When they came to terms with what God had in store for the two of them, together, I really felt it deep in my soul! Ms. Slattery has taken on… Read more »

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller

My Thoughts I am new to Ms. Miller’s work but I will tell you now, I will not be missing any more of her work! She is fabulous! I came into this series on this second book, but I wasn’t confused in anyway and I loved Charlotte and the Duke so very much. I am a big fan of the regency era when I read historical books so this book is going on my keeper shelf for sure.  Charlotte’s character really gripped me. I loved how Ms. Miller portrayed her and her unsuredness in having to choose who to marry if there aren’t feelings there. I really felt for her so much through this story. And the Duke!! Oh my heavens, yes please! I loved his character possibly more than I loved Charlotte’s! He’s a Godly character and I loved that in him, as it’s often times you see the women in stories as the more Godly ones. These characters truly came together in a wonderful way and I was so excited to feel a part of the regency era, watching them come to light in the faith and feelings!  I definitely recommend this book to all historical romance lovers…. TLC Book Tours Review: The Writing Desk by Rachel Hauck

TLC Book Tours Review: The Writing Desk by Rachel Hauck

My Thoughts Rachel Hauck has been a long time favorite author of mine. She is incredible with her work. I was super excited to get the chance to read and review this new book by her, and let me tell you something. I didn’t just like the book. I loved it. I loved, loved, loved it. She took me on the most incredible whirl wind ride beside these incredible chiseled people. That’s right, people. Not just characters in a story, but people that felt real to me. With scenes and emotions that pop of the page, this book was absolutely fantastic. As a daughter of a cancer survivor, this book just had all the feels to me. I loved the way Ms. Hauck alternated the story between history and contemporary. Not all authors can do that and keep me hooked. But, with an antique desk, two wonderful women who have writing in common and some twists, turns, and emotional happenings, Ms. Hauck did it perfectly. Tenley, Birdie, Jonas, and even Elijah all stole a piece of my heart and refused to give it back. I felt their confusions, their struggles, their dreams and hopes, and their love of God. It… Read more »

Blogging For Book Review: The Road To Paradise by Karen Barnett

My Thoughts I loved this book and everything about it. It was wonderfully written, with characters that are real-to-life, a setting that will sweep you away to the Mount Ranier National Park and a plot that will leave you dying for more of this talented authors work. It was such a fabulous feeling reading this book.  This novel is a mix of historical and beautiful scenes. I felt as though I was right there with Margie and the Rangers, looking at the parks in front of them. I loved feeling as though the author was writing the story just for me, and gripped me wholly with her wonderful characters, words and messages. These characters, both good and bad, quickly steal your heart and don’t let go until the end! Each page turn brings you further to the heart of Mt. Ranier taking you along for the ride of protecting the park.  This is the first book in Ms. Barnett’s new series and I definitely recommend it with high flying 5 stars! LitFuse Blog Tour Review: Grounded Hearts by Jeanne M. Dickson

LitFuse Blog Tour Review: Grounded Hearts by Jeanne M. Dickson

My Thoughts Ms. Dickson is a new to me author. I really enjoyed getting to know her work through this wonderful historical fiction novel! From start to finish, I was pulled into the center of the story and kept there until the very last page was reached.  This book was a double bonus for me! I have always loved Ireland(even if I haven’t ever visited there!) and I have always loved the World War II era. This book is the best of both those worlds. Filled with wonderful details of historic happenings, and characters like Nan and Dutch that quickly steal your heart, I felt like I was transported back into the world of Hitler, and emotions so strong that they become the reader’s emotions.  Ms. Dickson is definitely an author I recommend. She created this 4 star novel with passionate detail to another place in time, and left me feeling all the feels with this book. I loved the story line of redemption and hope. I can’t wait to read another book by this talented author!    Giveaway One grand prize winner will receive: A copy of Grounded Hearts A Claddagh bracelet A Claddagh jewelry box Visit the tour page here.

LitFuse Blog Tour Review: His Guilt by Shelley Shepard Gray

LitFuse Blog Tour Review: His Guilt by Shelley Shepard Gray

My Thoughts Ms. Gray is back with another hit in the Amish Of Hart County series! She never fails to grip me wholly and keep me in the center of the story. This book, just like Her Secret, was an instant gripper for me. Once again, the characters were captivating for me. I loved Mark and Waneta both. Mark’s character really tugged at me the most. I can’t imagine the pain that he endured through life. The things he dealt with in life, you don’t imagine being a part of an Amish novel, but it was and it really made it that much more gripping. Oh to be there! I would go in mama mode on him and hug him big! Waneta’s character, well, she was a little too judgy at times, but seeing God work on her, really made me love her that much more. This book is intriguing, emotional, and gripping. It is not a sweet Amish romance, but it is a wonderful Amish novel in a series that will steal your heart, just the same. You will go through the roller coaster ride of ups and downs as you fall in love with each character, as you… Read more »

TLC Book Tours Review: Sweetbriar Cottage by Denise Hunter

TLC Book Tours Review: Sweetbriar Cottage by Denise Hunter

My Thoughts When it comes to Denise Hunter books, either I like them, or I don’t. I have found some of hers I love, and some of hers, I just can’t get into. Sweetbriar Cottage, however, is one that I could get into and I loved it! She took wonderful characters and added them to a plot line that is all the feels and sucks you in completely.  Noah and Josephine’s characters are complex and really amazing for their roles. I loved seeing their reactions to the devastating news that their divorce wasn’t finalized. And, watching them when they realize they can’t leave the cottage, well, it is really a story filled with ups and downs and ins and outs.  This is a story of learning to forgive, of letting go, of realizing that what one’s heart may think is wants, isn’t what God wants or has planned. Each page turn opened my eyes a little more to my own past and my own present and really appreciated Ms. Hunter for that. This is definitely a 5 star worthy read and one that I highly recommend to all. It is going on my keeper shelf and I can say that… Read more »

Goddess Fish Promotions VBT: Weddings at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard

Goddess Fish Promotions VBT: Weddings at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard

Excerpt When Rosetta sat down at the eck table beside Truman, the light in his eyes made her hold her breath. “Honey-girl, if your new bishop allows us to marry, when do you want to tie the knot?” he murmured as he grasped her hand. “I fell head-over- heels for you the moment I met you last summer, making dinner in that big kitchen—” “Jah, the way to a man’s heart has always been through his stomach,” Rosetta teased. Her heart was hammering in her chest, and she suddenly felt like a tongue-tied teenager. It still surprised her, the way Truman made over her and waxed so romantic, considering he was somewhat younger than she was. Truman smiled. “I have no fears of going hungry after we marry,” he murmured, rubbing his thumb over her hand. “But my clock’s ticking. I’m thirty and I want a family—and I can’t wait to watch you grow big with our children, Rosetta.” Rosetta held her breath. She, too, had dreamed of mothering a large family, but the years after losing her first fiancé and then caring for her aging parents had slipped by. Even though God granted children to women who were older… Read more »

LitFuse Blog Tour Review: My Daughter’s Legacy by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould + Giveaway

My Thoughts I love these two authors and their work, and I was excited to see where this book went. And honestly, while I loved that these authors came together and created a captivating story, I was a little lost in some of the areas of the story, so I’ll definitely be going back to read the first two in the series. That said, these characters, both present day, and historical, are beautifully chiseled. Told between two points of view, the authors take the reader on a whirlwind ride through history and contemporary times. I loved visiting Richmond during the Civil War. Historical eras are my favorite! Nicole and Therese quickly swept me into the heart of the story and I felt both of their emotions like they were my own! Despite not reading book 1 and 2 and occasionally struggling to follow the story line, this conclusional book is definitely worth 4 stars. The writing styles of these two authors are beautiful, and mysterious and historical elements are awesome. This book is filled with emotions, thought provoking story lines, family legacies, and Godly messages of faith, trust and hope. I definitely suggest you get this book if you’ve read… Read more »
