#FirstLineFridays: Then Came You By Becky Wade

Welcome to First Line Fridays. What is First Line Fridays?? It’s where we share the first line only of a book we are currently reading, or one that is on our shelves. This week’s first is from Then Came You by Becky Wade.

Here is the first line:
Sylvie left me today.

Really intriguing if you ask me!! Here’s more about the book:

Then Came You by Becky Wade
Published: March 7,2017
158 pages

A leather-bound journal. A single father. A woman in pursuit of freedom.

Garner Bradford, heir to the troubled Bradford Shipping empire, doesn’t know much about babies. But he’s going to have to learn fast because he’s just become a single father to his newborn daughter. As he confesses through his journal entries, he’s not entirely sure how to keep a newborn alive, whether or not he’ll ever patch together his shattered heart, or how to forgive himself for his mistakes.

Career girl Kathleen Burke is wholly uninterested in settling down. She has big dreams, and none of them include Garner and his small hometown in Washington State. Yet she can’t seem to get her handsome boss out of her head or her heart. There’s something extraordinarily tempting about his beautifully sad green eyes. . . .

Told through journal entries, phone conversations, and letters, Then Came You is a unique, heart-stirring romance novella by acclaimed author Becky Wade.

Pa had some kind of nerve, up and dying like that-just when I’d gotten used to Frank being gone. Adjusting her somber bonnet, Caroline Kane exited what was now her inn, onto the boardwalk and then stepped down to the hard-packed dirt street.

First line from Dime Novel Suitor by Carrie Fancett Pagels. This is my “debut” as a character in the story.

I’m looking forward to reading Becky’s books.
    My first line is:
The promised view of the mountain peak waited, cloaked in mist like a tissue-wrapped gift not ready to be unveiled.
“The Road to Paradise” by Karen Barnett

Well, this is the one I was leaving, haha.

So I’ll pick another one by Becky Wade.

From her Christmas short story, The Proposal: “In the instant after a loud popping sound ripped through Amber Richardson’s car, her ’07 Chrysler Sebring lost its handling.”

Becky Wade has written some great books! Loved the style of this one!

My current read is: My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island by Carrie Fancett Pagels. First line is: “Maude Welling’s twelve-year-old brother, Jack, raced across the waxed wood floor of the soda shop, straight toward her, then skidded to a halt.”
