S&G Publishing Blog Tour Review: A Mother For Leah by Rachel Miller

S&G Publishing Blog Tour Review: A Mother For Leah by Rachel Miller

My Thoughts I was super excited to partake in this blog tour and read this new Amish novel by a new to me author. It sounded like an intriguing read. However, upon receiving it and reading it, I found it to be a little slack in the gripping department. It was a bit of a slow start and took me a few tries to get into the book. But, that said, once I did get past the first several chapters, I was pleased to be able to enjoy the story line and make friends with the characters!  The characters within this story all look forward to one thing: moving on. This story consists of two widowed souls who, after a time, are ready to seek God’s will and new love. I’ve suffered the loss of my mother so I really felt for Leah! Though I’m older, I still often feel I need my mother here with me, so I can see why a mother was needed for Leah. And as a remarried woman, I can see the struggles that Samuel had with wanting to introduce his new frau to his family. In the end, I did like the story. The… Read more »

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Soldier Who Killed A King by David Kitz

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Soldier Who Killed A King by David Kitz

My Thoughts When it comes to fiction books that are centered around Biblical times, it takes a really good author to hook me into the story line. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading my Bible, however, not every author can create a story that brings the Biblical portion off the book pages and to the reader like a movie screen. David Kitz, however, truly hooked me with this book, and took me a first-class whirlwind ride through history.  I absolutely felt every emotion of this book, watching, most often on the edge of my seat, as Christ was cruxified. This book really brings to life the Biblical and the historical detail. As I watched the Roman Centurion who was tasked with awful task, I found myself with tears in my eyes, both for him, and for Christ. It was a heartwrenching, gut twisting, thought provoking story of sacrifice and pain.  This book……anything less than a 5 star review would be a disgrace. The style of which David Kitz wrote this novel is stunning and captivating. This book is definitely not for everyone though. If you are a reader of Biblical fiction, if you want to see what happened during… Read more »

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller

Kregel Blog Tour Review: The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller

My Thoughts I am new to Ms. Miller’s work but I will tell you now, I will not be missing any more of her work! She is fabulous! I came into this series on this second book, but I wasn’t confused in anyway and I loved Charlotte and the Duke so very much. I am a big fan of the regency era when I read historical books so this book is going on my keeper shelf for sure.  Charlotte’s character really gripped me. I loved how Ms. Miller portrayed her and her unsuredness in having to choose who to marry if there aren’t feelings there. I really felt for her so much through this story. And the Duke!! Oh my heavens, yes please! I loved his character possibly more than I loved Charlotte’s! He’s a Godly character and I loved that in him, as it’s often times you see the women in stories as the more Godly ones. These characters truly came together in a wonderful way and I was so excited to feel a part of the regency era, watching them come to light in the faith and feelings!  I definitely recommend this book to all historical romance lovers…. TLC Book Tours Review: The Writing Desk by Rachel Hauck

TLC Book Tours Review: The Writing Desk by Rachel Hauck

My Thoughts Rachel Hauck has been a long time favorite author of mine. She is incredible with her work. I was super excited to get the chance to read and review this new book by her, and let me tell you something. I didn’t just like the book. I loved it. I loved, loved, loved it. She took me on the most incredible whirl wind ride beside these incredible chiseled people. That’s right, people. Not just characters in a story, but people that felt real to me. With scenes and emotions that pop of the page, this book was absolutely fantastic. As a daughter of a cancer survivor, this book just had all the feels to me. I loved the way Ms. Hauck alternated the story between history and contemporary. Not all authors can do that and keep me hooked. But, with an antique desk, two wonderful women who have writing in common and some twists, turns, and emotional happenings, Ms. Hauck did it perfectly. Tenley, Birdie, Jonas, and even Elijah all stole a piece of my heart and refused to give it back. I felt their confusions, their struggles, their dreams and hopes, and their love of God. It… Read more »
