Angel Lane by Sheila Roberts Blog Tour Review

Angel Lane by Sheila Roberts Blog Tour Review

Author:Sheila Roberts Publisher:St. Martin’s Griffin Pub. Date: October 2009 About the book: Keep the heart in Heart Lake. That’s exactly what three small-town shop owners hope to do when they launch their crazy-ambitious “Have a Heart” campaign—asking neighbors to commit one random act of kindness every day. Emma, Sarah, and Jamie love their lakeside community, but the little town is growing too big too fast, and a doing a good deed never hurt anyone. Or so they thought… When Emma slashes prices at her quilt shop, practically giving away blankets to anyone who looks vaguely cold, she almost stitches her way into bankruptcy. Sarah’s free cooking class boils down to a hotbed of crime when some punk kid swipes her favorite heirloom. And at Jamie’s chocolate shop, things take a bittersweet turn when a local policeman starts giving her grief, stirring up feelings she’s tried to forget—and slowly melts away her defenses… With irresistible humor, warmth, affection—and recipes!—author Sheila Roberts serves up a generous, open-hearted story about the friendships we make, the chances we take, and the lives we touch every day! About the author: Sheila Roberts lives on a lake in the Pacific Northwest. She’s happily married and has… Read more »

Just Beyond the Clouds by Karen Kingsbury

Just Beyond the Clouds by Karen Kingsbury

We’re brought back to Cody Gunner’s story but this time we get to meet his brother Carl Joseph-a young man battling downs syndrome. In this novel, Cody doesn’t want to send Carl Joseph into a cruel and harsh world. But Carl Joseph’s teacher, Elle, feels he should experience his chance at independence. As Cody, the one who’s supposed to protect Carl Joseph, and Elle bump heads, can they ignore the lesson that Carl Joseph is trying to teach them-that the answer is just beyond the clouds? Can they look up and see the clouds and that Carl Joseph is right-the answer they both need is just beyond the clouds?  You CAN NOT get through this terrific read with out the water works springing leaks! It is well worth it however, when you can sit back and see your “family” in the pages of the book, learning lessons, loving and having faith. Ms. Kingsbury’s talent is like that of no other. She can use the power of God in her words and speak to the heart in the best way. I truly hated to see this book come to an end, but I know that if I look up in the clouds,… Read more »

The Cutting by James Hayman Virtual Blog Tour Preview and Review

The Cutting by James Hayman Virtual Blog Tour Preview and Review

About the book: Someone is stealing the hearts of beautiful young women… In the foggy pre-dawn light of a September morning, a young woman is abducted as she jogs through the elegant streets of Portland, Maine’s West End. That night, the nude, mutilated body of a teenaged girl is found, dumped in an abandoned scrap yard, brutally raped, her heart surgically cut from her body. Are the two crimes linked? Detective Sergeant Michael McCabe, head of Portland’s Crimes Against People squad isn’t sure. But in a city where there were only two cases of homicide the entire preceding year, the coincidence of timing seems compelling. And McCabe soon finds himself in a race against time to rescue the missing woman before she too becomes a victim of an evil and deadly conspiracy.Against the vivid backdrop of Portland’s cobblestone streets and working waterfront, McCabe and his partner, Detective Maggie Savage, pursue a brilliant but morally corrupt killer who believes he alone has the right to decide who shall live and who shall die. About the author: Like McCabe, I’m a native New Yorker. He was born in the Bronx. I was born in Brooklyn. We both grew up in the city. He… Read more »

A Thousand Tomorrows by Karen Kingsbury

A Thousand Tomorrows by Karen Kingsbury

Cody’s a rodeo star. Ali’s a rodeo star. Neither want love. Cody was abandoned as a child by the one person he needed most. Ali has a terrible secret. They can’t deny the attraction building between them. But can Cody let down his walls and let love in, and will Ali risk love even with the secret she carries? Can they both accept what is God’ will and still have a thousand tomorrows? This is a wonderfully written story. God certainly spoke through Ms. Kingsbury’s hands in this book. You need ten boxes of tissues just to get through the first half of the book! It makes you want to reach out and hug Cody and Ali and be there for them. You won’t soon forget the wonderful workings of God and the characters who become like family by the end of the book. This book is getting high praises from me. It’s a book that I didn’t want to end or put down. But I know I can close my eyes and remember the words in the book and the characters and it’s like I am right back there reading the book all over again. Well done and two… Read more »

The Princess and the Three Knights by Karen Kingsbury

The Princess and the Three Knights by Karen Kingsbury

This is another wonderful childrens story by Karen Kingsbury! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and learning the lesson between the lines! Ms. Kingsbury tells of a beauty, not on the outside, but of a beauty that lies withing when you believe in and have faith in God. The story tells of arrogance, greed and Godly love, when a princess who loves God, is given the choice to pick for marriage one of  3 knights. Her father gives these 3 knights tests to fulfill and the one that fulfills the tasks correctly will win the hand of the princess. One knight is full of arrogance, one full of greed, and one who’s faith in God guides him in the choices he makes. Which one will she choose? I recommend this book as a perfect read for anyone who wants to give their child a lesson in what it means to love God and rely on him for their choices and not on ourselves, and to love someone with love that is patient, true and gentle. Definitely a book for all ages! *This book was provided for review by Zondervan/ZonderKids books*

Stay Close Little Girl by Karen Kingsbury

Stay Close Little Girl by Karen Kingsbury

This book is perfect for fathers and daughters. It brings out the things that father’s feel when they see their new little girl for the very first time and watch her grow. The special moments shared between a daughter and her father can be found within the pages of this book. I recommend this book for every father out there who wants to give their little girl something meant for only them to share. It’s something that will show her just how cherished she truly is by the man God gave her to protect her and love her and cherish her. The man she calls Daddy. Another tear jerker, but highly recommended with praises!!! *This book was purchased at a bookstore by me*

Over the Holidays by Sandra Harper Blog Tour Preview and Review

Over the Holidays by Sandra Harper Blog Tour Preview and Review

About the Book:The best holiday traditions are meant to be broken. It’s only December 1, and Vanessa Clayton has been dreading Christmas since she spotted tinseled trees at her local mall in September. Thankfully, she and her husband, JT, can’t afford to drag their twin boys across the country to New England for the annual celebration at her stuffy sister-in-law Patience’s home. Not that Vanessa has prepared a proper Christmas for her family in years, and she has less time than ever since she agreed to consult on the script of a local play. Her older sister, Thea, is no help — she’d rather make art and flirt with surfers than babysit her nine-year-old nephews. Then Patience drops a holiday stress bomb: Her family will come to California instead. In between “baking” cinnamon rolls for the school potluck and overbearing Patience testing her patience, Vanessa can’t stop thinking about the difficult but charming playwright at work. Meanwhile, Patience’s teenage daughter, Libby, obsesses over a college boy she has met by the pool, and Thea searches desperately for the meaning of Christmas — for her latest installation, of course. As their holiday plans go comically awry, these four women discover the true spirit… Read more »
